CTOnews.com, April 28 (Xinhua) Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. recently granted a patent for "a quantitative system for driving safety of self-driving vehicles", including Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

According to the patent summary, the invention discloses a driving safety quantification system for self-driving vehicles, which includes a driving area environment risk quantification module, a surrounding traffic participant conflict interference quantification module, a self-driving behavior risk quantification module, a vehicle driving safety quantification module and a display module. Among them, the outputs of the driving area environment risk quantification module, the surrounding traffic participant conflict interference quantification module and the self-driving behavior risk quantification module are finally synthesized into the vehicle driving safety quantification module, and the real-time safety value of vehicle driving is calculated. The system quantifies the environmental complexity, the interference of the surrounding traffic participants and the factors of their own behavior state that affect the safety of human drivers while driving. it can provide varying degrees of safety warning to the self-driving vehicle system and its human drivers, and restrain the vehicle to be in a relatively stable driving state.

In terms of actual intelligent driving, Huawei chooses the route of self-driving technology based on multi-sensor fusion and cooperation. In April this year, Huawei launched ADS 2.0, a high-order intelligent driving system, which will not rely on high-precision maps to achieve high-order assisted driving. Huawei ADS 2.0 will be used in the first launch of the M5 high-order intelligent driving system.
