CTOnews.com April 28 news, Guangzhou Metro Group and Guangzhou Public Transport Group issued a public notice on the "Guangzhou Public Transport fare discount Adjustment Plan". Ordinary passengers enjoy a 20% discount for those who take Guangzhou Metro bus with an accumulative total of 80 yuan and less than 200 yuan within a natural month.

Bus lines: coded bus lines under the unified supervision of the Municipal Transportation Bureau (excluding private cars, customized buses and other special routes).

Rail transit lines: subway lines, trams, APM lines, Guangfo lines and the west extension of Line 7 within the urban area of Guangzhou.

Water bus route: the coded water bus route under the unified supervision of the Municipal Port Bureau.

The basic fares of bus and subway in Guangzhou have not been adjusted since they were formulated in 1996 and 2006 respectively. Since 2010, Guangzhou has implemented the fare discount scheme of 40% after the Yangcheng pass ordinary card has been used for a total of 15 times, becoming the first batch of cities in the country to implement the public transport fare discount policy, and has been in use ever since.

Prior to this, Guangzhou Metro Group and Guangzhou bus Group held an expert discussion meeting to demonstrate that two plans were formed to solicit opinions from the public from September 10 to October 10, 2021, and proposed to adjust the discount for ordinary passengers from cumulative number of times to cumulative amount.

The two proposals for soliciting public views are as follows:

Plan 1 (unified standard discount): within a natural month, passengers will enjoy a 20% discount on subway bus tickets with an accumulative total of 100 yuan and less than 200 yuan; 50% discount on 200 yuan and 400 yuan; and no discount on 400 yuan and above.

Plan 2 (unified and divided discount): within a natural month, passengers will enjoy a 10% discount on bus fares with a cumulative actual fare of more than 40 yuan. Take the subway bus ticket over 100 yuan, dissatisfied with 200 yuan, enjoy 20% discount; 200 yuan, less than 400 yuan enjoy 40% discount; 400 yuan and above are not discounted. If the bus fare meets the individual accumulation discount of public transportation and the joint accumulation discount of bus and subway at the same time, there shall be a discount according to the joint accumulation discount of bus and subway.
