On June 2, 2022, a Douyin account called "Automobile Ji" uploaded a series of three videos. The third one is entitled "BYD and Weilai, who is cutting leeks?" The video claims: "Weilai is very interesting. ES8 sells for 47-630000 in China and how much is it for export to Norway? equivalent to 41-460000 yuan." Xilai said that the video misled the public into treating domestic and foreign consumers differently by comparing the price of its domestic vehicle (battery rental service) with the price of its ES8 BaaS model (battery rental service) sold in Norway, and deliberately ignoring the fact that Norway is exempt from import duties and VAT on electric vehicles, as well as the impression that Ulai sells cheaply in Norway and is "cutting leeks" at home. The video received more than 330000 likes at the end, and Weilai believes that the video has had a serious negative impact on the reputation of the Weilai brand.
