CTOnews.com April 28 news, today Sony Group released the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2022 and full-year financial results. The results showed that fourth-quarter sales were 3.0636 trillion yen, up 35% from a year earlier; operating profit was 128.5 billion yen, down 7% from a year earlier; and net profit belonging to shareholders of Sony was 128.2 billion yen, up 15% from a year earlier.

For the whole of fiscal year 2022, sales were 11.5398 trillion yen, up 16% from the same period last year; operating profit was 1.2082 trillion yen, up 0% from the same period last year; and net profit belonging to shareholders of Sony Group was 937.1 billion yen (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 48.542 billion yuan), up 6% from the same period last year.

The financial report also shows that PS5 shipped 38.4 million units worldwide as of March 31, 2023, and total PS5 shipments in the three months to March 31, 2023 were 6.3 million, an increase of 4.3 million over the same period in the previous fiscal year.

As of March 31, 2023, the number of PlayStation Plus subscribers was 47.4 million, the same as in the same period in the previous fiscal year.

As of March 31, 2023, PlayStation Network had 108 million monthly active users, an increase of 2 million over the 106 million active users in the same period in the previous fiscal year.

A total of 68 million PS5 and PS4 game software were sold in the three months to March 31, 2023, 2.5 million fewer than the 70.5 million sold in the same period in the previous fiscal year. Of these, 9.5 million were first-party games, down 5 million from 14.5 million in the same period in the previous fiscal year. 70% of software sales are made up of digital games, down 1% from the previous fiscal year.
