CTOnews.com, April 28, according to the 2023 malware report released by the security lab Elastic, 54% of the malware is for the Linux platform, 39% for the Windows platform, and 6% for the Mac platform.

Trojans are the most common type of malware, accounting for more than 75% of the total, according to the report. Next up are encryption miners and blackmail software.

In macOS systems, encryption miners are the main type of malware, of which XMRig accounts for nearly 40%.

On the macOS platform, the proportion of encrypted miner attacks is getting higher and higher, and attackers can use MacOS and JavaScript to complete the corresponding tasks.

Because the Node package Manager (NPM) is the universal package manager for JavaScript, encryption miners can distribute to macOS endpoints in malicious packets.
