According to news in the morning of April 28, Beijing time, Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, founders of audio social app Clubhouse, said in a memo to employees on Thursday that the company would lay off more than 50% of its employees. It is reported that as of the third quarter of last year, the company had about 100 employees.

During the outbreak, Clubhouse activity surged; with the offline recovery, the previous surge began to fade.

The founders said the company was laying off staff to refocus on product development. "it has nothing to do with the macro environment, and it's not a financial decision." Davison tweeted. It is reported that the company has raised about $310 million.

About 20 executives left Clubhouse last year, including talent poached from companies such as TikTok and Spotify. As of July last year, the company had not generated any revenue.
