Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, April 27, Rudra Saraswat has released the blendOS 2 "Avial" system, a GNU / Linux release with two official versions, with GNOME and KDE Plasma desktop environments.
The blendOS distribution promises a mix of Arch Linux, Fedora Linux, and Ubuntu, and now blendOS 2 is available, promising support for running Android applications out of the box.
Android application support is possible in blendOS 2, thanks to the WayDroid project. The WayDroid project is a container-based open source solution for running the full Android operating system on Linux devices.
Users can install Android applications from graphical app stores such as Aurora Store or F-Droid. BlendOS 2 allows users to use these Android applications with native Linux applications.
Android developers can test applications through WayDroid in Android Studio, just like normal Linux applications, without the need for a complex Android simulator.
In addition to supporting Android applications, blendOS 2 allows users to install and use Web applications / PWA, as well as applications from Arch Linux software repositories and Chaotic-AUR repositories, which are automatically built repositories for AUR (Arch user Repository) packages.
With this major release, developers can also use Podman tools to develop their own "distrobox" implementations to manage OCI containers and pod and create unique features.
The hybrid distribution provided by blendOS has also been improved by automatically adding containerized software to the underlying system. In addition, there are new priority-based systems that allow users to control which containerized software should take precedence over other software and avoid any conflicts.
Among other noteworthy changes, blendOS 2 has two official versions, with GNOME and KDE Plasma desktop environments, official NVIDIA graphics drivers installed by default, support for BIOS and UEFI (32-bit and 64-bit) systems, a new installer framework, and support for the creation of blendOS remixes.
