CTOnews.com, April 27 (Xinhua)-- Mingjue launched its second electric car, the MG Comet EV, in India, starting at 798,000 rupees (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 67591 yuan), which is by far the cheapest electric car in India.

The Mingjue Comet EV is positioned as a small city speedboat with a two-door four-seat design, which can travel 230km on a single charge. For comparison, the Tata four-door Tiago electric model has a range of 250km to 315km, starting at 849000 rupees, while the Wuling Air EV four-seater currently starts at 76800 yuan in China.

According to public sources, the "Comet" came from the iconic British aircraft that took part in the 1934 UK-Australia McRobertson flight competition, while the Hector and Gloster were also named after British aircraft during World War II. Mingjue expects electric cars to account for 25% of its Indian sales by 2023.

▲ photo source: MG India official website from the appearance, this car has a lot to do with sister brand Wuling Air EV, the length, width and height are 2974/1505/1640mm, the wheelbase is 2010mm, which is exactly the same size as the four-seater version of Air EV.

The model is equipped with a 14.3kWh battery with a maximum power of 42PS (about 31kW) and a maximum torque of 110N ·m, providing 230km mileage. The capacity of the Air EV four-seat battery is 28.4kWh, the maximum power is 50kw, the maximum torque is 140N ·m, and the CLTC mileage is 300km.

It does not support fast charging, and 3.3kW expects the charging time to be 7 hours (0-100%), or 5.5 hours if only up to 80%.

According to reports, MG Comet EV is also equipped with i-SMART and intranet functions, making it far ahead in this market segment.
