Samsung SDI's revenue in the first quarter was 5.35 trillion won (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 27.713 billion yuan), up from 4.05 trillion in the previous quarter and up 32.2% from a year earlier, but less than 5.966 trillion in the previous quarter, down 10.2% from the previous quarter, according to the financial report.

In the first quarter, Samsung SDI's operating profit was 375.4 billion won (currently about 1.945 billion yuan), up 16.5% from a year earlier, but down 23.5% from a month earlier. Their operating profit was 322.3 billion won in the first quarter of last year, compared with 490.8 billion won in the previous quarter.

Like revenue and operating profit, Samsung SDI's net profit in the first quarter increased year-on-year, down from the previous quarter. Although Samsung SDI's revenue has exceeded 5 trillion won (currently about 25.9 billion yuan) for three consecutive quarters, and operating profit and net profit also increased significantly in the first quarter compared with the same period last year, they still have a gap compared with the performance of LG New Energy in the first quarter.

LG New Energy reported on Wednesday that it had revenue of 8.747 trillion won (currently about 45.309 billion yuan) in the first quarter of this year, up 101.4% from a year earlier and 2.5% from a month earlier, while operating profit was 633 billion won (currently about 3.279 billion yuan), up 144.6% from a year earlier and 166.7% from a month earlier.
