Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens for the clues of selling melons, rain and snow in the back row! CTOnews.com, April 27 (Xinhua) recently, the 88W charger standard in Huawei's P60 Pro mobile phone box has caused controversy on the Internet. The charger uses USB-A / USB-C to choose one of the connectors and cannot be used at the same time.
In response, Bruce Lee, BG CTO of Huawei, said that he was the "initiator" of the design. In order to prevent users from plugging in without output voltage and not charging or mistakenly thinking that the charger was faulty, physical intervention was adopted to allow users to plug in only one charger at the same time, and this design also reduced the learning cost for users.
Bruce Lee also said that some users also asked why they could not be designed to output two channels at the same time. If the design is designed to output two channels at the same time, a power conversion circuit needs to be added, which takes up a lot of space, and the size of the charger must be increased. Contrary to the original intention of the compact design. Designed to choose one of the two, only need to add protocol control and on-off control circuit, the increased size can be ignored.
The full text of Bruce Lee's response is attached at CTOnews.com:
Recently, the standard 88W charger in Huawei's P60 Pro box (in the middle of the picture below) uses USB-A / USB-C to choose a connector from the two, which has caused some controversy. I am the initiator of this design. Let me tell you why it is designed in this way.
The first one to adopt this design is the 66W multi-port charger (top left below). The initial design specification is the total power 66W dual-port flexible distribution, but there is a dispute on the choice of Atoll C or Cure C or Aban A. Because whichever solution you choose will cause some users to be unable to use it. Notebook computers must use port C, because only port C can support the general PD charging protocol on PC. Although some small household appliances support Type-C input, they must use A-to-C line to supply power because of design defects, and some watch charging lines must use port A. Finally, I adopted my proposal that An and C choose one of the two to add A port. Only one port of An and C can output voltage at the same time, in order to prevent the user from plugging in the cable but not having the output voltage resulting in not charging or mistakenly thinking that the charger is faulty, the physical interference is adopted so that the user can only insert one charging line at the same time, this design also reduces the user's learning cost. In the middle of this, someone also proposed to use the slider baffle to choose one of the two, because the sliding bezel requires the user to add an action out of thin air, which increases the inconvenience.
Currently, choosing one of the two is the most user-friendly design. Now we have more chargers using this design, such as the just released 88W multi-port car charge (lower right below), which users can use to power both the computer and the driving recorder, or the mobile phone and the driving recorder, or the computer and the mobile phone, or two mobile phones. Maximum flexibility is achieved in the smallest size.
The following is the bar guard link:
Some users also ask why it can not be designed to output two channels at the same time. If it is designed to output at the same time, a power conversion circuit needs to be added, which takes up a lot of space, and the size of the charger must be increased. It is contrary to the original intention of our compact design. Designed to choose one of the two, only need to add protocol control and on-off control circuit, the increased size can be ignored.
Our 66W multi-port charger has been on the market for two years, and there is no smaller dual-port charger of the same power level on the market, is it?
