Adam Adam Selipsky, CEO of AWS, and Beth Galetti, head of human resources, issued layoff notices to employees in the United States, Canada and Costa Rica.

The job cuts are part of a previously announced plan that could affect a total of 9000 people. Amazon laid off its advertising division last week and has laid off some employees in its video games and Twitch live streaming division in recent weeks.
