Schumer said in a statement that he had drafted and distributed a "framework document describing the new regulatory regime that will prevent potentially catastrophic damage to our country while ensuring that the United States makes progress and takes the lead in this transformative technology."

ChatGPT is an AI program that has recently attracted wide public attention, especially from American legislators, for its ability to answer a variety of questions quickly. It currently has more than 100 million monthly active users, making it the fastest-growing consumer application in history.
