CTOnews.com, April 26 (Xinhua)-- Rufus is a popular open source tool for creating Windows (or other operating system) installation media. The latest version 4.0 is now available for download from GitHub, with several significant changes and improvements.

Rufus 4 is the first updated version to abandon Windows 7 (earlier Rufus 3.22 abandoned ISO image downloads on Windows 7). From now on, creating bootable USB drives using Rufus requires Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, or Windows 11. In addition, the application now defaults to 64-bit executables, but x86 and ARM versions are still available for download. Finally, the developer indicated that the old version of Rufus might not be updated correctly, so skip from version 3 to version 4.
