AI bots such as ChatGPT may make it easier to create fake reviews. Third-party sellers on Amazon already use this tool to help write listings and attractive titles, as well as marketing copy. For consumers, how to distinguish between true and false evaluations is a difficult problem. In general, you can start by looking at the reviewer's profile and history to see if they have a large number of similar or repeated comments; noting whether there are excessive advertising or hyperbole in the comments; comparing different comments for contradictions or inconsistencies; and referring to information from other sources, such as professional media or authorities.

Amazon says it prohibits any form of review abuse, including offering incentives such as gift cards to write good reviews. The company will suspend or block accounts of users who violate these policies.
