CTOnews.com, April 26 (Xinhua)-- BMW Digital key is an innovative feature that allows users to replace traditional keys with smartphones, but previously only supported Apple devices. Now, BMW has announced that it will bring the digital key Plus to the Android platform, and the first supported phones include Google's Pixel series and Samsung's Galaxy series.

BMW Digital key Plus uses ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to allow users to automatically unlock or lock the door as they approach the vehicle without taking out their phone or pressing any buttons. This technology has gradually appeared on some mobile phones in the past few years. Digital key Plus is set and activated on compatible vehicles through the My BMW app, and allows car owners to share digital keys with friends or family, as long as they also have compatible Android or iOS devices.
