CTOnews.com, April 26, according to the latest supply chain report, Apple supply chain manufacturer Sunic System has successfully developed the 8th generation OLED storage machine to produce better OLED screens for Apple iPad tablets and MacBook notebooks.

OLED deposition machine is an important equipment for the production of OLED panels, and its main function is to deposit organic materials on the panel substrate.

Apple plans to use OLED panels in its new iPad, which will be launched next year, so it is working with device makers such as Canon Tokki and Sunic System to develop a deposition machine dedicated to Gen 8 (2200x2500mm) substrates.

Gen 8 uses a larger substrate at a lower cost than the Gen 6 (1500x1850mm) substrate used on smartphones.

The Elec also said in the report that the eighth-generation OLED deposition machine developed by Sunic has been licensed by Apple for mass production. CTOnews.com quoted The Elec as saying that compared with machines made by Canon Tokki, Sunic System machines are at most 40 per cent cheaper.

Apple is expected to launch two iPad models with OLED panels next year. According to Omdia, this means that shipments of IT OLED panels will reach 12.9 million this year and double to 2540 million by 2024.

The analyst firm said that as apple uses OLED panels more widely in its tablets and laptops, shipments will reach 74.3 million by 2028, accounting for 14% of total shipments, and that number is expected to continue to grow.
