CTOnews.com April 25 news, according to foreign science and technology media tomshardware reports, has found the reason why the AMD Ryzen 7000X3D series CPU burned the motherboard: EXPO and SoC voltage is the culprit.

Range of influence CTOnews.com quoted the media as saying that this could happen to both AMD Ryzen 7000 standard and 7000X3D processors, but 7000X3D processors are more likely to happen.

AMD said it would release the fix as soon as possible, but did not announce a specific time. All motherboard brands, including Yingtai, Asustek, MSI, gigabyte and ASRock, may have the above problems.

The reason is that too high SoC voltage and too high SoC voltage will destroy the thermal sensor and thermal protection mechanism of the chip, and cause the mechanism to detect and avoid overheating to stop running.

The chip receives too much current through the motherboard slot, so that we can see visible damage to the vCore pin and bulge on the chip LGA pad in the slot.

A safe SoC voltage of 1.25V is recommended, which will increase the probability of burning down the motherboard after rising to 1.4V.

AMD is working on a fix that includes voltage caps or locks in firmware / SMU, which should prevent EXPO memory profiles and simple BIOS operations from exceeding undefined limits.
