CTOnews.com, April 25, Microsoft recently released KB5025175 updates for Win10 and Win11 systems, with built-in PowerShell scripts that can help users verify and alleviate CPU vulnerabilities on their devices, which can be used to launch speculative execution side channel attacks.

The vulnerability is numbered CVE-2022-41099 and dates back to November 8, 2022. Hackers can use this vulnerability to access sensitive data on the user's device.

About Microsoft A sample PowerShell script has been developed to help you automatically update the Windows recovery Environment (WinRE) on deployed devices to address security vulnerabilities in CVE-2022-41099.

The sample PowerShell script sample PowerShell script was developed by the Microsoft product team to help automatically update WinRE images on Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices.

Run the script on the affected device using the administrator credentials in PowerShell. There are two scripts available-which script should be used depends on the version of Windows you are running. Please use the appropriate version for the environment.

KB5025175 updates are divided into the following two PowerShell scripts PatchWinREScript_2004plus.ps1 (recommended) this script applies to Windows 10 version 2004 and later, including Windows 11. This version of the script is recommended because it is more reliable, but uses features that are only available on Windows 10 version 2004 and later.

PatchWinREScript_General.ps1 this script applies to Windows 10 version 1909 and earlier, but executes on all versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11.
