While the music industry may be hit by generative artificial intelligence (AI), Musk's ex-girlfriend Grimes (Grimes) seems willing to embrace any potential the technology may offer.

Grimes and Musk, the Canadian producer and singer, tweeted on Sunday that she was willing to offer a 50 per cent royalty on any AI song successfully produced using her voice. The 50-50 agreement is the same as the cooperation she reached with any other artist. Grimes is her stage name, her official name is Claire Claire Boucher, and she has two children with Musk.

In Grimes's tweet, she did not elaborate on how such royalty sharing would be carried out, nor did she know how to work with music from Grimes's past albums, which may still be held by record labels. For example, her previous album "Visions" was released by 4AD, a label owned by Baker Records. Her statement will run counter to the wishes of major record companies, which want a share of the use of any copyrighted music.
