This feature is an AI chatbot based on OpenAI's ChatGPT technology that can have conversations with users, answer various questions, and provide suggestions and recommendations. However, many users consider this feature mandatory, unable to delete or block, and sometimes presenting inappropriate or harmful content.

My AI launched in February and was initially only available to paying Snapchat + subscribers. Snapchat + is a premium service for $3.99 per month (CTOnews.com notes: currently about 28 yuan) that offers a number of additional features and offers. Last week, at Snapchat's annual Partner Summit, the company announced that it was opening up "My AI" for free to all users and adding some new capabilities. For example, My AI can now join Group chats and use Snap Map location information to suggest nearby places for users. In addition, MyAI will soon be able to reply to user messages with images generated entirely by AI.

However, these new features did not satisfy users, but caused more complaints. On the App Store, Snapchat's rating dropped from 3.05 in the first quarter to 1.67 in the past week, with 75% of reviews being one-star. On Twitter, many users expressed dissatisfaction with "My AI," asking Snapchat to remove the feature or give users the option. Some users even threatened to uninstall Snapchat because they thought "my AI" was too annoying or scary.

Some users found that "My AI" seemed to know their exact location, even if they didn't share location information on Snap Map. This makes them feel that "my AI" is secretly collecting their personal data and using it in conversations. Others worry that MyAI will deliver inappropriate or harmful content, especially to minors. According to the Washington Post, when MyAI was only available to paying users, it was discovered that the robot would give advice on alcohol, marijuana and sexual behavior to users aged 15 or 13.

Snapchat says MyAI is just an experimental feature and is constantly improving and perfecting it. The company also said users can give feedback to the team by long-pressing the reply content of "My AI." Snapchat has also introduced security tools, such as age filters, to ensure that "My AI" replies are more appropriate for users of different ages, and promises to introduce parental controls. But those features weren't ready when MyAI was fully open.

Snapchat also said that if users don't like the "My AI" feature, they can not use it. However, this feature is currently fixed on the user's chat interface and cannot be untopped, blocked or deleted unless the user subscribes to Snapchat+. This made some users feel Snapchat was forcing them to pay for subscriptions to get rid of "my AI" harassment.

For Snapchat,"My AI" would have been a smart move, as there are many AI chatbot apps on the market that attract a lot of users and revenue. However, Snapchat did not take into account the needs and feelings of users, and randomly added an experimental feature to their app, causing users to resent it. Perhaps Snapchat should re-examine the design and positioning of "My AI" to make it truly a useful and interesting friend, rather than a nasty and scary stranger.
