CTOnews.com, April 25, according to the latest statistics released by market research firm Circana (formerly known as IRI and The NPD Group), the US market for item trackers is growing rapidly with the help of Apple's AirTag.

Item trackers such as the AirTag have become a must for travelers, with sales up 82 per cent year-on-year and 63 per cent year-on-year between January and February this year, the report said.

CTOnews.com cites data from Circana's retail tracking service that sales of item trackers soared 94 per cent in January 2023 alone. Sales of bags and travel accessories increased by 16% in 2022, while sales of item trackers increased by 48%.

The Circana report points out that despite the current economic downturn, people are spending more on travel than ever before, a trend that analysts believe will continue next year.

Ben Arnold, executive director and analyst at Circana, said: "in the challenging first quarter of 2023, item trackers, in-ear headphones and mobile power sources allowed travelers to maintain contact, entertainment and other categories of positive growth. Travel spending is expected to continue to rise in 2023 and 2024."
