Asynchronous counter is an asynchronous sequential circuit, its main characteristic is that the clock pulse CP of each flip-flop is not all connected together, so the flip-flop time of each flip-flop is first and later, and its output may produce interference burr phenomenon, but its circuit structure is simple.

The difference between synchronous counter and Asynchronous counter
