CTOnews.com April 24 news, Zhizhen intelligent lawsuit against Apple and claim 10 billion yuan case has made new progress, the case will be heard again in Shanghai High Court on May 5,2023, the defendants are Apple Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Apple Computer Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Apple (hereinafter collectively referred to as "Apple"), the cause of the case is infringement of invention patent dispute.

This is a new round of litigation initiated by Zhizhen Intelligence after obtaining patent validity confirmation in June 2020.

Zhizhen Intelligence is an artificial intelligence enterprise founded in 2001, focusing on cognitive intelligence technologies such as natural language processing. Its trademark and brand are small i robots. The company was listed on the New Third Board and then listed on NASDAQ on March 9,2023. Shareholders include Alibaba, Blue Cursor, Geely Holdings, etc. Zhizhen Intelligence said that the lawsuit is to demonstrate the strength of Chinese AI enterprises.

The lawsuit between Zhizhen Intelligence and Apple lasted for 10 years and was divided into two stages. The first phase was a dispute over patent validity. In June 2012, Zhizhen Intelligent filed a patent infringement lawsuit with the court, arguing that Apple's Siri infringed its patent "a chatbot system" filed in 2004. After many appeals and retrial, the validity of Zhizhen Smart's patent was finally confirmed by the final judgment of the court in June 2020. The second stage is a lawsuit about infringement compensation. In August 2020, Zhizhen Intelligent filed another lawsuit demanding that Apple stop Siri patent infringement and stop manufacturing and selling infringing products, temporarily claiming 10 billion yuan. The lawsuit initiated by Zhizhen Intelligence has been announced for 6 sessions since March 6,2021, and the seventh session will be held on May 5,2023.

It is worth noting that Yuan Hui, the current chairman and CEO of Zhizhen Intelligence, and Zhu, the former CEO, have had many lawsuits. Zhu frequently asked for access to company information on the grounds of shareholders 'right to know after leaving office in 2019, and was sued by Zhizhen Intelligence for damaging the interests of the company. At present, these cases have been adjudicated or dismissed.
