Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen South China Wu Yanzu for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com April 24-Netlist, a U.S. company specializing in computer memory, sued South Korea's Samsung for infringement of several of its patents in federal court in Texas, demanding $404 million in damages. After a six-day trial, the jury on Friday ruled that Samsung's "memory module" infringed five Netlist patents and awarded Samsung more than $303 million in damages to Netlist (CTOnews.com note: currently about 2.088 billion yuan).

Netlist, based in Irvine, Calif., sued Samsung in 2021, claiming Samsung infringed its patents on memory products used in cloud computing servers and other data-intensive technologies. A Netlist lawyer told the jury that Samsung took its patented modular technology after working with Netlist on another project.

Samsung argues that Netlist's patents are invalid and that its technology differs from Netlist's invention. At this time, the two companies have not commented on the case. Netlist shares rose 21 percent after Friday afternoon's ruling.
