CTOnews.com, April 23, the official Wechat account of Lianchuang Optoelectronics recently updated an article announcing that the world's first megawatt high temperature superconducting induction heating device has been launched and put into production at Harbin East Light Company, doubling the energy efficiency conversion rate.

According to CTOnews.com, the megawatt HTS induction heating device was developed and produced by Jiangxi Lianchuang. It adopts separate transmission torque self-matching technology of main and auxiliary motors, which realizes fast and efficient heating of large metal workpieces (diameter greater than 300mm), effectively solves the problem of torque overshoot when large metal workpieces are rotated and heated in DC magnetic field, and has significant advantages of high efficiency, energy saving and quality improvement.

Over the past year of trial operation, the equipment has played a prominent role in effectively improving the heating efficiency, heating speed and temperature uniformity of aluminum, and the unit power consumption has been reduced by 53% compared with the same period last year, and the aluminum can be heated to the desired temperature with only 1 inch 54 of the original heating time.

It is understood that the high temperature superconducting induction heating device makes use of the characteristics that the superconductor can achieve a stable zero resistance superconducting state at low temperature, and can be used not only for extrusion and forging of non-ferrous metal profiles such as aluminum and copper, but also for melting and heat treatment of high-end alloys. Compared with the commonly used resistance furnace, this device can double the energy efficiency conversion rate of the traditional power frequency induction furnace, save energy by 50%, and reduce carbon emissions by more than half.
