CTOnews.com reported on April 22 that during the holiday transportation period from April 27 to May 4, more than 10500 passenger trains will be operated daily and more than 1500 additional passenger trains will be operated.

As of 14:00 on April 22, railway departments had sold 46.57 million train tickets during the May Day short holiday. Tickets from Beijing to Shanghai, Chengdu to Xi'an, Guangzhou to Nanning, Guangzhou to Changsha, Beijing to Qingdao, Shenzhen to Changsha, Beijing to Shenyang, Beijing to Xi'an, Shanghai to Wuhan and Beijing to Taiyuan are in short supply.

CTOnews.com has obtained from the railway department an additional 156long-distance passenger trains across railway bureaus, including 102 night high-speed trains from Beijing Chaoyang to Shenyang north, Beijing Fengtai to Taiyuan south, Beijing west to Xi'an north, Hangzhou east to Zhengzhou east, Shanghai Hongqiao to Xi'an north, Shanghai Hongqiao to Changsha south, and Nanchang west to Guangzhou south from April 28th to 30th and May 2nd to 4th. An additional 54 EMU trains and general speed trains will be opened in tourist hot spots and passenger-intensive directions from Fuzhou to Shenzhen, Jilin to Qingdao, Chaoyang to Changchun in Beijing, and west of Beijing to Nanchang.

The railway department will open 36 additional two-way sleeping trains from Shanghai Hongqiao to Foshan, Shanghai Hongqiao to the south of Guangzhou, Shanghai Hongqiao to Zhuhai, Beijing west to Shenzhen north, Beijing west to Kunming south, and Beijing west to Zhanjiang from May 2 to 4.

Shanghai Bureau Group opened 284 passenger trains in the direction of popular tourist cities such as Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, Ningbo, Yangzhou and Huangshan. Chengdu Bureau Group opened 30 short-distance night EMU from Chengdu to Guiyang, Chengdu to Chongqing and Chongqing to Guiyang, and Jinan Bureau Group opened 82 EMU daily from Jinan to Zibo.
