CTOnews.com April 21 news, the State Post Bureau today announced the operation of the postal industry in the first quarter of 2023.

In the first quarter, the postal industry completed a total of 34.17 billion pieces of mailing business, an increase of 8.5 percent over the same period last year. Of these, express delivery business totaled 26.89 billion pieces, up 11.0% over the same period last year, while postal group mailing business totaled 7.28 billion pieces, an increase of 0.3% over the same period last year.

In the first quarter, 2.82 billion pieces of express delivery were completed in the same city, down 3.2% from the same period last year; 23.43 billion pieces of express delivery were completed in other places, up 12.2% from the same period last year; and 630 million pieces of international / Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan express business were completed, up 46.8% from the same period last year.

In the first quarter, the postal mail business completed 230 million pieces, down 1.6% from the same period last year; the parcel business completed 4.006 million pieces, down 10.3% from the same period last year; the newspaper business completed 4.12 billion copies, up 0.1% from the same period last year; the magazine business completed 170 million copies, down 10.1% from the same period last year; and the exchange business completed 929000 pieces, down 27.6% from the same period last year.

In the first quarter, the business income of the postal industry (excluding the direct business income of the Postal savings Bank) totaled 356.21 billion yuan, an increase of 9.0% over the same period last year. Of this total, the revenue from express delivery business totaled 258.96 billion yuan, up 8.2% from the same period last year; the postal group's mailing business revenue totaled 10.05 billion yuan, down 5.2% from the same period last year.

In March, the mail and delivery business of the postal industry completed 13.17 billion pieces, an increase of 18.7% over the same period last year. Among them, the express delivery business volume completed 10.48 billion pieces, an increase of 22.7% over the same period last year; the postal group mailing business volume completed 2.68 billion pieces, an increase of 5.1% over the same period last year.

In March, the business income of the postal industry (excluding the direct business income of the Postal savings Bank) reached 129.29 billion yuan, an increase of 17.5% over the same period last year. Of this total, the revenue from express delivery business reached 97.24 billion yuan, up 18.8% from the same period last year; the revenue from the postal group's mailing and delivery business reached 3.59 billion yuan, an increase of 3.7% over the same period last year.

In the first quarter, the volume of express delivery in the same city, other places, and international / Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan accounted for 10.5%, 87.1% and 2.4% of the total express business respectively, and the business revenue accounted for 6.0%, 50.8% and 10.9% of the total express business revenue, respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of express delivery volume in the same city decreased by 1.5 percentage points, that of other places increased by 0.9 percentage points, and that of international / Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan business increased by 0.6 percentage points.

In the first quarter, the proportion of express business volume in the eastern, central and western regions was 75.9%, 16.2% and 7.9% respectively, and the proportion of business revenue was 76.1%, 14.1% and 9.8%, respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of express business volume and revenue in the eastern region decreased by 1.6% and 1.2% respectively, while that in the central region increased by 1.0% and 0.7%, respectively. In the western region, the proportion of express business volume increased by 0.6%, and the proportion of express business income increased by 0.5%.
