CTOnews.com April 21, KaOS Linux, a KDE-centric and Arch Linux-inspired stand-alone distribution, celebrates its 10th anniversary today, releasing a new stable ISO mirror version with some of the latest GNU / Linux technology and a preview of the KDE Plasma 6 desktop environment.

KaOS Linux 2023.04 includes a pre-release version of KDE Plasma 6 Desktop, compiled for the latest version of the Qt 6 open source application framework. The KaOS Plasma 6 Preview ISO image can be downloaded here.

On the other hand, the stable version of KaOS 2023.04 ISO comes with the latest KDE software, including the KDE Plasma 5.27.4 LTS desktop environment, the KDE Frameworks 5.105 software suite, and the KDE Gear 5.105 software suite, all compiled for Qt 5.15.9 LTS.

KaOS 2023.04 is supported by the Linux 2023.04 kernel family and comes with the latest foundation of systemd 253.3, CLang / LLVM 16.0.1, ZFS 2.1.10, OpenSSL 3.0.8, Python 3.10.11, SQLite 3.41.2, Dracut 059, GnuPG 2.4.0, libtiff 4.5.0 and libarchive 3.6.2.

Because this is a special version of ISO, the developer also added the option to play music during the installation.

KaOS Linux follows the rolling release model, and users can permanently receive updates once installed, so existing users can simply run the sudo pacman-Syu command in the terminal emulator to update their installation to the latest KDE software.
