Thank CTOnews.com netizens soft media Xinyou 1933769 for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, April 21 (Xinhua)-- the next generation of NASA space station mission overalls will improve NASA's spacewalk capabilities in low-Earth orbit and the International Space Station, according to a report on NASA's official website of NASA on April 20.

Collins Aerospace, the next generation spacesuit for the ▲ NASA space station mission, is working with ILC Dover and Oceaneering to design and manufacture a new spacesuit for NASA. Designed to accommodate different sizes of astronauts and provide a wider range of movements, the suit will use new technologies that are more efficient, more durable and require less maintenance than those currently used by NASA astronauts on the space station, and are more adaptable, more flexible and easier to conduct spacewalks outside space.

NASA astronauts have been designing the spacesuit for the space station for more than 40 years, from the extravehicular maneuvering device (EMU) spacesuit design, which was first unveiled during the space shuttle program in the 1980s, for spacewalking outside the space station for maintenance and upgrade. The spacesuit has far exceeded its planned design life, and there will be water problems with the helmet.

Lara Kearney, ▲ NASA's current spacesuit NASA extravehicular activities and human surface mobility program manager, said: "although the current EMU has always been the absolute main force of the space shuttle and space station program, NASA needs a new aerospace suit on the space station. With the new spacesuit, we can solve some of EMU's current outdated problems and take advantage of all the new technologies available over the decades, such as improved mobility and life support technology innovation systems. "

According to reports, Collins Aerospace's next-generation spacesuit is designed to be easier to maintain and use more advanced life support components, such as oxygen supply, carbon dioxide washing, electricity, heat dissipation and ventilation. They will also develop a liquid-cooled and ventilated suit designed to improve the time-tested EMU suit that can be worn under the spacesuit to help astronauts adjust their body temperature during a spacewalk.

In order to adapt to the different physical characteristics of NASA astronauts, the next generation of spacesuits will be suitable for all sizes and equipped with highly mobile torso parts to achieve maximum range of motion. In addition, the spacesuit design uses fewer parts and will include easy-to-use features that minimize astronaut training time and maintenance procedures.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, NASA also chose Axiom Space to develop a new aerospace suit to carry out the Artemis 3 moon landing mission. The two suppliers will compete for orders for future spacewalk and moon walk services. which one do you think looks better?
