April 21 (Xinhua) on Thursday, local time, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg (Mark Zuckerberg) announced that he would not rule out further layoffs in the future, saying that the company would not hire as quickly as it did before the massive layoffs last year.

Speaking at the company's virtual question and answer session, Zuckerberg said the latest round of layoffs affected about 4000 employees in the technology department. Meta has cut 21000 jobs since November, equivalent to nearly 1/4 of its workforce.

While Meta will fill the gap, Mr Zuckerberg told employees they should not expect net growth of more than 1 to 2 per cent. "I think this is the right model to look forward to in the future, to get efficiency from new technology, it will be a different mode of operation, and I think we can do it very well," he explained. "

So far, a Meta spokesman has not responded to a request for comment.
