Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, April 20 (Xinhua) Last year, the U.S. government set up an office dedicated to studying the so-called "unidentified flight phenomenon" (UAP), also commonly known as UFO. Sean Kirkpatrick, director of the office, told a subcommittee of the Senate Armed Services Committee on Wednesday that more than 650 potential UAP incidents were being tracked, CTOnews.com noted. This is an increase from the 350 reports mentioned in an unclassified intelligence report released earlier this year.
Kirkpatrick told lawmakers how his office helped the Pentagon and the intelligence community identify emerging foreign technologies, showing videos of two declassified cases, one of which had been solved and the other unresolved. The first video shows a small sphere flying over the camera screen of a MQ-9 drone in the Middle East in 2022. The drone's camera follows the object through the air, looming from time to time. Kirkpatrick explained that the case was unsolved because there was no evidence other than the video. "with this video alone, it is almost impossible to fully determine what the object is." He added that it is hoped that as more data is collected, some explanatory patterns can be found in these unresolved cases.
The second video came from South Asia earlier this year, when an object flew past two MQ-9 drones, one of which captured a video that appeared to have a wake of propulsion, which Kirkpatrick said was initially thought to be "unusual." But after analyzing the video frame by frame, his office determined that it was a "shadow image (shadow image)," he said. "it was taken in infrared, it was heat from the engine of a passenger plane, and there happened to be a passenger plane flying near those two MQ9." He said.
Thursday's hearing, chaired by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Democrat of New York, was the latest congressional hearing on UAP in the past year, and lawmakers put pressure on the Pentagon to resolve the unexplained sightings. Although the focus of public concern is the existence of UFO, Kirkpatrick reiterated that there is no evidence of extraterrestrial life in these sightings. "in our research, AARO has so far found no reliable evidence of extraterrestrial activity, extraterrestrial technology, or objects that violate known laws of physics," he said.
CTOnews.com reported earlier today that Elon Musk, CEO of Space X, said in a recent interview that he had not seen any evidence of conscious alien life anywhere, at least not yet.
