CTOnews.com, April 20 (Xinhua)-- Meta agreed to pay $725 million (about 5.068 billion yuan) in December 2022 to settle a class action over the Cambridge Analytical scandal.

The company officially launched the compensation process today, and Facebook users registered in the United States between May 24, 2007 and December 22, 2022 are eligible for compensation.

If eligible Facebook users do not support the settlement, they can raise an objection before July 26. Eligible Facebook users are required to fill out a form by August 25 to receive compensation.

For Facebook users who do not submit an application, it means that the user has waived the right to sue Meta and will not receive corresponding compensation.

As for the amount of compensation that can be paid by each Facebook user, CTOnews.com found no clear information from the report, only that it was calculated according to the time of registration and the number of people participating in the compensation.
