CTOnews.com Microsoft today released a preview of Windows 11 Build 25346 to the Canary Channel, an update that includes a number of noteworthy improvements and fixes, the most important of which is support for Content Adaptive Brightness Control (CABC), which helps laptops and 2-in-1 devices save power.

CABC automatically adjusts brightness and contrast according to what is displayed on the screen, such as when switching from a dark scene to a bright sunny scene in the video. This feature, previously available only on desktops, is now available on laptops and 2-in-1 devices.

Users can manage this feature in Windows Settings> System> Display under "Brightness and Color," with three options: Off, Always On, and Only On Battery. Microsoft wants testers to use the "always on" option and provide feedback on the visual quality of CABC so that appropriate adjustments can be made. This feature is designed to provide an ideal viewing experience in most situations while saving power and extending battery life. However, for tasks that require color accuracy, such as photo or video editing, it's best to turn off CABC.

In addition to CABC functionality, Windows 11 Build 25346 also brings a number of design improvements. For example, Microsoft updated the appearance of Windows Security (Firewall) notification dialog to match the visual style of Windows 11. In addition, some new features have been added to improve the user experience: the connection bar for remote desktop sessions has been redesigned with a cleaner light and dark design; the file sharing experience in File Explorer has also been improved; and a new option to hide the date and time on the taskbar to make it look simpler.
