CTOnews.com, April 19 (Xinhua)-- Samsung is introducing a new update for the Galaxy Watch 5 series of watches, linking menstrual cycle tracking to the skin temperature sensor of the smartwatch. Starting today, the feature is available in 30 markets in the United States, South Korea and Europe through Samsung Health App.

Samsung has achieved more accurate menstrual cycle tracking by using Galaxy Watch 5's skin temperature sensor. In fact, the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro are equipped with skin temperature sensors that previously worked in the background and went unnoticed.

However, users cannot read the skin temperature on the Galaxy watch at any time, but the sensor now has a new and more accurate way to track the menstrual cycle.

BBT (CTOnews.com Note: basal body temperature, basic body temperature) varies according to different stages of menstruation. Samsung explained that the skin temperature sensor on the Galaxy Watch 5 has achieved accurate prediction of the menstrual cycle by reading the skin temperature of the wearer after waking up and before physical activity.

Once Galaxy Watch 5 users receive the update, they can activate this feature by selecting cycle tracking in the Samsung Health app, adding the most recent cycle information to the calendar, and enabling "predict menstruation with skin temperature" in the settings menu.

Currently, cycle tracking based on skin temperature is gradually being launched in the United States, South Korea and dozens of European countries. Including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
