Compared with a typical display screen that uses hundreds of pixels per inch, OLEDoS has thousands of pixels per inch and can achieve ultra-high resolution in the same area.

The industry had expected LG Display to supply Oledos for Apple's next-generation MR devices, but now there has been a delay. It is speculated that part of the reason is that LG Display's current poor performance has led to delays in the purchase of related equipment. LG Display's investment in Oledos is estimated to be between 100 billion and 200 billion won (currently about 1.044 billion yuan).

Samsung Display is currently producing Oledos samples, but this is a product designed to supply Samsung's mobile experience (MX) division, according to sources. Due to the delay in the release and release of Apple's MR device, the industry believes that the release date of Samsung Electronics'MR device will be difficult to guarantee.

In addition, the OLEDOS sample technology currently produced by Samsung Display at the request of Samsung Electronics is also different from the technology developed by Oledos for the future Apple MR device market.

According to reports, Apple's first MR device plans to use a "WOLED+CF" type of Oledos to form a color filter (CF) on a white (W)-OLED. LG Display has also been developing this type of Oledo. The Oledos samples that Samsung Display intends to supply to Samsung Electronics are also in WOLED+CF mode.

Samsung Display, on the other hand, is trying to develop an Oledos for Apple called the "RGB" Oledos, which deposits red (R), green (G) and blue (B) pixels next to each other in the same layer on the screen, using a fine metal mask (FMM) to deposit RGB pixels, so it is technically difficult.

According to sources, there are also opinions among Apple / Samsung that there is no need to develop RGB-based Oledos, because WOLED+CF-based Oledos can also achieve the 3500PPI pixel density required by Apple. The industry predicts that it will take more than 3 to 4 years for mass production of RGB Oledos. As a result, the industry expects Sony to be primarily responsible for supplying Oledos to Apple's MR devices in the next few years.
