Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Each of us will play mobile games, browse on Weibo, make short videos or watch a TV show on pad in our spare time. The document gentleman is no exception, he must swipe his mobile phone before going to bed every night. You can easily understand the world by swiping your fingers on the small screen. Because of its rich and intuitive interface and portability, it is difficult not to be loved by the public.
So how does the touch screen affect and change our lives just a few decades after it was born?
The essence of the world's first touch screen touch screen (Touch Panel) is a sensor, which is a device composed of a touch detection unit and a touch screen controller. When touching the graphic button on the screen, the tactile feedback system on the screen can drive various connection devices according to the pre-programmed program, which can be used to replace the mechanical button panel and create a vivid display effect through the liquid crystal display screen.
The concept of touch screen was first proposed by Johnson of the United States in his paper "Touch Panel: a New computer input device" published in 1965. Two years later, Johnson turned the idea into a reality, creating the first capacitive touch screen in human history.
The main body of the screen is a composite glass screen with a layer of metal oxide called ITO (Indium Tin Oxides) on the inner surface and four electrodes in the four corners. This is a clunky but refreshing screen: wherever you point your finger, the screen shines.
The disadvantage is that you can only calculate the position of one finger, and you can't feel the force of contact.
The accidental discovery was precisely because of this disadvantage of the capacitive touch screen, and the invention initially went unnoticed until Samuel Hearst of the United States invented a more sensitive and intelligent resistive touch screen in 1970.
Speaking of resistive touch screen, its birth is actually an accident.
In 1971, when Dr Samuel and his team used a paradigm accelerator to study atoms, in order to efficiently record the location of the light emitted by particles hitting the screen, they created a teaching tool that could digitally store image data on a sensing tablet. Later, inspired by teaching tools, he constantly improved his technology to have a resistive touch screen.
Like capacitive touch screens, they also use an ITO metal coating, except that they apply the metal to a film that is easy to press, and when they touch it with a finger or something else, the metal coating in that position touches the conductive plate at the back, causing the flow of electricity. Its advantage is that it does not require contact with its own current, either a piece of wood or a plastic stick. At the same time, the current of the pressing position is related to the pressing strength, and the pressing of different strength can be recorded.
The promotion of the touch screen at first, the touch screen was not promoted for a variety of reasons, but only used in the United States military.
Until 1993, resistive touchscreens were used on Apple's handheld Apple Newton. Later, Jobs used iPad to redefine the concept of tablets and the subsequent advent of iPhone phones, so that smart products with touch technology combined with a variety of applications began to be commercialized.
Compared with the traditional input devices, the touch screen organically combines the input and output devices of information, giving users a real feeling of controlling the computer and bringing users new fun to use. In some cases, carrying a keyboard and mouse is neither convenient nor easy to maintain. Therefore, the touch screen is usually used in some public places or where electronic devices need to be moved.
It is this kind of easy and direct human-computer interaction that greatly facilitates users. Users can operate on the host as long as they gently touch the icon or text on the screen with their fingers. the touch screen has quickly become a very attractive new multimedia interactive device.
Nowadays, touch screen has been used in many fields, such as mobile phone, tablet computer, retail, public information inquiry, multimedia information system, medical equipment, industrial automatic control, entertainment and catering industry, automatic ticketing system, education system and so on.
In the future, touch screen technology, which was originally on the edge, has come into our lives and become a part of our lives. However, its development does not stop there, and the iteration of technology and the innovation of human life style are bound to continue to stimulate the development of touch screen technology.
Higher flexibility and clarity
People have higher and higher requirements for touch screens, from low resolution to high resolution, from poor light transmittance to good light transmittance. As a new type of touch screen material, the newly developed electronic paper has good flexibility and low power consumption, and many companies are also committed to R & D and production in this area, such as Kodak, Toshiba, Motorola, Canon, Epson, Guangzhou Aoshi and so on. People apply e-paper technology to electronic newspapers, e-books, electronic watches and other fields, so that users more and more realize the portability and interest of electronic products.
The development of screen materials is changing with each passing day
ITO materials are used in resistive and capacitive touch screens, and this traditional material will gradually be replaced by metal grids, silver nanowires, carbon nanotubes, conductive polymers, graphene and other materials in the future, in which the electrical conductivity of metal grids and silver nanowires are better than ITO, the screen will be stronger and more durable, faster reaction speed, easier to operate.
Multi-touch technology
Multi-touch is another development direction of touch screen. The multi-point or multi-user interactive operation mode on the same display interface has stronger maneuverability. If you are familiar with the enlargement and reduction of mobile phone pictures, you can use two-touch to achieve. Users can use different gestures such as clicking, double-clicking, translating, pressing, scrolling and rotating with both hands.
There is still a long way to go for multi-touch screen to enter commercial production. With the development of the "Internet of things" technology, more and more household appliances use this technology, and there will be some electronic products that are easier to control and more humanized in the future.
In short, the development of the information society is inseparable from the update and iteration of technology. The future development trend will show a multi-functional, diversified, large-screen trend, and serve users in a more intuitive and visual form.
In the future, touch screens will change the way people work, live, and even understand and understand the world.
