In 1981 and 1982, I originally created famous literary characters such as Pippilu, Lucixi, Schuke, Beta and so on. They have accompanied China's post-70s to post-10s readers. The circulation of books and periodicals related to them exceeds 300 million (figure 1). In 2021 alone, I paid more than 10 million yuan in personal income tax to the country for the sales of Pippilu, Luxi, Shuke and Beta books (figure 2). For writers, the tax bill is the most credible proof of sales and influence. In 2008, the United Nations World intellectual property Organization awarded me the International copyright Creative Gold Award for my original literary characters and works such as Pippilu, Lucixi, Shuke and Beta. On April 26, 2011, the State Press and publication Administration, the National Anti-pornography Office and the National copyright Administration awarded me the title of "Anti-Piracy Image Ambassador" (figure 3).

My original well-known literary characters are coveted by illegal merchants who violate the Trademark Law of the people's Republic of China without my authorization. Making use of the unrighteousness of trademark agencies, the lack of intellectual property awareness of trademark examiners, excessive discretion and even rent-seeking space, I maliciously registered 710 infringing trademarks of my original well-known literary characters, which are used to peddle all kinds of goods. Including pickled food, animal artificial insemination, underwear, gas valves, restaurants, rat food and so on, and so on.

I have been protecting the rights of infringing trademarks since 2002. In the past 21 years, I have only succeeded in safeguarding 37 infringing trademarks, and it takes an average of 6 years for each infringing trademark to succeed. One of the longest infringement trademarks, the Shuke underwear trademark, took 19 years to fight until the Supreme people's Court to successfully protect its rights. There are also 673 infringing trademarks that have not been successfully protected.

In December 2021, 673 infringing trademarks forced the suspension of the 36-year-old monthly "Fairy King" with a circulation of 200 million copies: hundreds of media reported 672 infringing trademarks forced to stop the circulation of 200 million copies of the 36-year-old monthly "Fairy Tale King".

The Trademark Office of the State intellectual property Office interviewed me on September 27, 2021 and admonished me, accusing me of infringing upon the reputation of the Trademark Office because it was difficult to safeguard my trademark rights in the self-media. They warned me that if I did not stop infringing upon the reputation of the Trademark Office, I would suffer the consequences (figure 4).

On February 20, 2023, the State intellectual property Office rejected my application for invalidation of Shuck trademark No. 39662148 registered by Suzhou Gas equipment Valve Manufacturing Co., Ltd without my authorization (figure 5). In the face of the rejection of the State intellectual property Office, I lost confidence in the protection of trademark rights, and I could not see the dawn of success in the field of trademark infringement. I am 68 years old, and my life time is obviously not enough to protect 673 infringing trademarks. I admit defeat in the face of trademark and trade name infringement of "Suzhou Gas equipment Valve Manufacturing Co., Ltd." and German enterprise "Shuke (Shanghai) Pipeline equipment Service Co., Ltd.". From then on, I bid farewell to trademark protection. My 21-year trademark protection stops at the Shuke trademark of Suzhou Gas equipment Valve Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which is of "German origin" without my authorization.

Starting from today, I will bid farewell to the protection of trademark rights and will no longer protect the 673 infringing trademarks that infringe upon the rights and interests of my original well-known literary characters. I still write every day, but the works I have written, including novels that have already been written, will never be published again, because it will be difficult to protect my rights in the face of trademark infringement. The work is the child of the writer, and in the face of the risks that the child may encounter, any guardian will not take foolproof measures lightly.
