CTOnews.com, April 18, in order to continue to expand the Internet of things ecosystem and use cases, Qualcomm today announced a new Internet of things solution to support the development of the next generation of Internet of things terminals: Qualcomm QCS8550, Qualcomm QCM8550, Qualcomm QCS4490 and Qualcomm QCM4490 processors. The new use case supports further expansion of the Internet of things ecosystem in areas such as video collaboration, cloud games, retail, and so on. Integrated features include edge AI processing, high energy efficiency, ultra-clear video and 5G connectivity.

Qualcomm QCS8550 and Qualcomm QCM8550 processors are designed for performance-intensive Internet of things applications

The new Qualcomm QCS8550 and Qualcomm QCM8550 processors integrate powerful computing and edge-side AI processing, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and enhanced graphics and video capabilities to support and facilitate rapid deployment of high-performance Internet of things applications such as autonomous mobile robots and industrial drones.

The above products adopt Qualcomm optimized AI architecture. Qualcomm QCS8550 and Qualcomm QCM8550 also support enhanced video and graphics processing, immersive cloud games, video collaboration, and video streaming experiences.

Qualcomm QCS4490 and Qualcomm QCM4490 processors support a new generation of industrial handheld terminals

Qualcomm QCS4490 and Qualcomm QCM4490 processors provide connectivity and next-generation processing features for industrial handheld and computing terminals.

The above solutions are equipped with 5G and Wi-Fi 6e connections to achieve thousands of megabits of transmission rates, wider coverage, low latency, and enhanced processing power to cope with complex computing tasks. Qualcomm QCS4490 and QCM4490 processors plan to support the Android version until the future Android 18, which means that these two products can be used in industrial design until 2030, saving terminal development time and costs by providing processors with more flexibility and longer product life.

The above midrange solutions are also suitable for other IoT applications that require low-latency connectivity, higher reliability, and better development time, including advanced retail and POS terminals, as well as control and automation applications such as security panels.

Qualcomm QCS4490 and Qualcomm QCM4490 processors as well as Qualcomm QCS8550 and Qualcomm QCM8550 processors will also work with the new Qualcomm Aware platform in the future.

CTOnews.com note: the Qualcomm Aware platform promotes innovation across edge-side terminals and clouds by providing chip and software services for common functions required for digital transformation such as positioning and condition monitoring; key use cases it supports include cold chain distribution, utility asset monitoring, freight tracking, warehouse and inventory management.
