­while the major GNU/Linux distributions promote the deployment of GNOME 3.26.1 maintenance, the GNOME team has focused more on the next major release update. Development of GNOME 3.28 will start next week, and the first milestone version, GNOME 3.27.1, is expected to be launched on October 18, 2017.

­naturally, we don't expect the first milestone release of GNOME 3.28 to bring too many new features, and the entire development work will continue until the end of this year. According to the roadmap, GNOME 3.27.2 will be launched on November 15, while GNOME 3.27.3 will be available on December 13.

­the GNOME 3.28 desktop environment will enter the Beta phase in January next year. GNOME 3.27.4 is expected to be launched on January 10, 2018, while a second Beta version will be launched on February 14, Valentine's Day.
