CTOnews.com, April 17, China and Brazil have been cooperating in space for more than 30 years (China and Brazil signed an agreement on approving the development of earth resources satellites in July 1988). Prior to this, China and Brazil have jointly developed a number of China-Brazil earth resources satellites, providing more than 500,000 landscape remote sensing satellite data to many developing countries in Latin America, Africa, ASEAN and other regions.

On October 14, 1999, China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite 01, jointly developed by the Chinese Academy of Space Technology and the Brazilian Space Research Institute, was successfully launched. The satellite is China's first timely transmission earth remote sensing satellite with the most technical difficulty and the most extensive use, creating a record for putting it into application for the first time in the history of satellite development in China, and is known as an example of "South-South cooperation."

Since 1999, China and Brazil have jointly launched five earth resources satellites, which are widely used in environmental protection and monitoring, land and resources exploration, disaster monitoring and other fields, while improving the level of space management and technology of the two countries, effectively serving economic and social development.

The National Space Administration announced today that on April 14, Director Zhang Kejian signed the Supplementary Protocol between the Government of the people's Republic of China and the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil on Cooperation in the Development of Earth Resources Satellite 06 with the Brazilian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Luciana Santos and the Director of the Brazilian Space Agency de Mora, respectively, and the Space Cooperation Plan between the National Space Administration of China and the Brazilian Space Agency for 2023-2032.
