According to news from IT House on April 17, IT House learned from Tencent Cloud that since it successfully lit up in March last year, its self-developed video codec chip "Canghai" has been mass produced and put into use.

In cloud games, direct-on-demand and other scenarios, Canghai has provided services to Tencent's self-research business and public cloud customers.

According to reports, in the latest MSU hardware video coding competition, compared with industry standard hardware such as GPU, Canghai can greatly improve picture quality at the same bit rate; on the high frame rate of 120fps, with the same quality, Canghai further saves more than 10% of the bit rate than the industry-leading level; in addition, the coding time of Canghai chip 1080p per frame takes only 4 milliseconds, and the throughput performance is almost not affected by coding parameters and video type.

At the beginning of 2019, Tencent Penglai Laboratory and Shannon Laboratory jointly launched the research and development of the codec chip "Canghai", which was successfully lit up in March 2022.

Tencent Cloud said that at present, Tencent has achieved end-to-end chip design and verification of full coverage, and a number of chips have been implemented on a large scale.

The AI reasoning chip "Zixiao", which adopts self-developed deposit architecture and self-developed acceleration module, claims to provide up to 3 times computing acceleration performance and more than 45% overall cost savings, and has been used in internal business.

High-performance network chip "Xuanling", using self-developed network, storage, computing acceleration scheme, claims to achieve the "0" occupation of host CPU and up to 4 times the performance improvement.
