CTOnews.com, April 17 (Xinhua) recently, a lossless Wi-Fi headset from an unknown Swiss start-up has attracted the attention of the audio industry. The headset called HED Unity is the world's first wireless headset capable of lossless, high-resolution audio streaming over a local Wi-Fi network, and its sound quality reaches the level of 24bit / 96kHz.

The emergence of HED Unity makes people look forward to whether well-known brands such as Apple and Sonos can follow suit and launch their own Wi-Fi headphones. At present, Apple's AirPods Max and other Bluetooth headsets have the problem of data loss, even if the new codec is used. On the other hand, Wi-Fi headphones can ensure the complete transmission of audio signals, so that users can hear the original music.

HED Technologies called its lossless technology "better than high fidelity, Full-Fidelity":

Unity's proprietary Full-Fidelity ™standard provides unprecedented, truly lossless audio that allows you to hear the music as it is. Immerse yourself in pure sound, rediscover your favorite music, and enjoy an all-in-one, all-inclusive, completely wireless comfort device.

HED Unity is also well designed, with premium aluminum earmuffs, carbon fiber reinforced nylon bases and memory cotton ear pads inside, as well as cooling gels for comfort. The headset is equipped with a 40mm titanium driver unit, supports active ambient sound management (noise cancellation with 12 microphones), and has a nine-segment equalizer that can customize sound effects. In addition, it also supports head tracking motion detection, which can provide immersive 3D surround sound effects, similar to AirPods Max spatial audio.

When not streaming through Wi-Fi, HED Unity uses Bluetooth 5.3 and supports SBC and AAC codecs.

Users can use the company's Unity Multisource Music Player app to connect to music libraries or streaming services such as iHeartRadio, Qobuz, Spotify, Soundcloud, etc. Headphones support personal NAS devices, DLNA, UPnP and FLAC files. The headset is equipped with a dual-core processor that can receive wireless software updates to improve functionality.

Of course, such a high-end Wi-Fi headset is not cheap, with a price of as much as $2199 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 15107 yuan), far more than competitors such as AirPods Max. However, for those users who pursue the ultimate sound quality, it may be a worthwhile investment.
