On May 29, 2021, China successfully launched the Tianzhou-2 cargo spacecraft through the long March 7 Yao-3 carrier rocket, and the second battle for the construction of the Chinese space station in orbit began.

At present, the project has entered a new stage of application and development of the space station. At present, the Tianzhou-6 cargo spacecraft has completed the relevant work of leaving the factory and shipped to the Wenchang space launch site, which is scheduled to be launched in May this year. In the new stage, China's manned space program will carry out two "Shenzhou" manned spacecraft launches and one or two "Tianzhou" cargo spacecraft launches every year. 2023 is the first year that the Chinese space station has moved into the stage of application and development, with plans to launch two manned spaceships, Shenzhou 16 and Shenzhou 17, and one cargo ship, Tianzhou 6.

It is expected that the "long March 7" Yao Seven carrier rocket will carry the "Tianzhou 6" cargo spacecraft on the afternoon of May 10, 2023, and will be launched from Station 201 of the Wenchang launch site in Hainan. After lift-off, the spacecraft will adopt rapid rendezvous and docking mode to dock at the rear port of the "Tianhe" core module.

This launch will be the first launch of China's manned space program in 2023, and will first send "food and grass" and "baggage" to the "Shenzhou 16" mission, shouldering the important task of doing a good job in the opening battle of the new phase of China's manned space program.

Starting from "Tianzhou 6", the "Tianzhou" series of spaceships have entered a new stage of mass production, and six spacecraft from "Tianzhou 6" to "Tianzhou 11" have been arranged for development and production. At this stage, the "Tianzhou" spacecraft has carried out a system upgrade, made great improvements to the cargo cabin, greatly enhanced the cargo transport capacity of the sealed cabin, and the materials provided to the astronauts will be able to support for a longer time. Compared with previous batches, the Tianzhou-6 spacecraft has increased the volume of the sealed cabin by about 500 kg, which will increase from 6.9 tons of the previous Tianzhou-5 to about 7.4 tons. Based on the increase in capacity, the launch density of the space station mission "Tianzhou" cargo spacecraft has been adjusted from 2 times / 1 year to 3 times / 2 years.

During this trip, the "Tianzhou 6" mission mainly includes upstream astronaut resident materials, extravehicular services, and other extravehicular consumption materials; maintenance spare parts and propellants to ensure the safe operation of the platform, various loads and samples for application tasks; and downward on-orbit waste.
