Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, April 16, according to DigiTimes, two component suppliers of NVIDIA revealed that NVIDIA has no plans to increase the production of GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards in the near future.

Silicon Precision and Jingyuan Electronics, which provide outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) services for NVIDIA, said they had not been notified of additional orders from NVIDIA. The news comes just a few days after the launch of GeForce RTX 4070, one of NVIDIA's newly released RTX 40 series graphics cards.

According to IT, there are a variety of theories to explain Nvidia's practice. The GeForce RTX 4070 is available at a suggested retail price starting at 4799 yuan, and although it offers many new features and performance improvements, it has to compete not only with AMD's current graphics cards such as RX 6800, which has recently been reduced to $469, but also with the previous generation of GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards that are still in stock. Some people believe that NVIDIA's strategy is to maintain its current production demand in order to clear the inventory of the previous generation. At the same time, the newly released RTX 4070, like the previous RTX 4080, has an ample supply of non-public products.

Another theory is that NVIDIA is more focused on its enterprise graphics cards, such as the A100, which are heavily purchased by multiple entities for AI training and chat robots, causing NVIDIA's shares to continue to soar.

Whatever the reason, NVIDIA still expects to release more RTX 40 series graphics cards in the coming months.
