CTOnews.com April 15, Apple Japan issued a press release announcing the opening of a new "Vertical Reading Comics" (vertical reading manga) page on Apple Books and the exclusive distribution of related comics in cooperation with the creators.

Compared with the horizontal page flipping characteristics which are suitable for traditional novels, magazines and other media, the vertical way is more suitable for comic book reading. Vertical reading comics is a popular type of content produced specifically for digital media, optimized for vertical scrolling and smooth reading.

IPhone, iPad, and Mac users in Japan use the Apple Books application and can access the Vertical Reading Comics page on the Manga Store tab.

Apple says Apple Books will focus on vertical reading of comic books and has partnered with more than 180 creators to create nearly a hundred vertical comic series a year.

CTOnews.com learned from the report that vertical reading comics cover popular series such as love / romance, fantasy and action, as well as suspense, horror, different worlds, science fiction and other types.
