CTOnews.com, April 14, according to a recent research report released by TechInsights, shipments and revenues in the global Internet of things module and gateway market increased by 6% and 18% respectively in 2022 compared with the same period last year. Chinese suppliers maintain the dominant market share-the top five are all Chinese by shipments, and two of the top five are Chinese by revenue. In the past few years, Chinese Internet of things module and gateway suppliers have been dominant in module shipments, and Mobile Communications has been the market leader in module shipments and revenue for three consecutive years.

Global Internet of things module shipments reached 505 million in 2022. The top five suppliers by shipments are Mobile Communications, Guanghetong, Nippon Intelligence, China Mobile (CTOnews.com OneMO) and Mega Intelligence, accounting for 64 per cent of global Internet of things module shipments. In terms of revenue, two of the top five suppliers are Chinese, while the other three are Western suppliers-Sierra Wireless, u-Blox and the newly formed Telit Cinterion (Telit & Thales merged by Q123). The top five suppliers account for 62% of the revenue of the entire Internet of things modules and gateways, moving away from communications to dominate the market, with a higher revenue share than the second largest supplier, Telit Cinterion, by more than 20%.

In the entire Internet of things module and gateway market, there are a large number of emerging suppliers, they are part of the "other". Most of the suppliers included in "other" are emerging Chinese suppliers, such as Lianjun Alliance, Gao Xinxing Alliance of things, Wutong Group and so on. TechInsights has also studied some of the more important IoT module suppliers, such as Murata, Rolling Wireless, WNC, Cavli Wireless, AM Telecom, Digi, ZTE, LG, Kyocera and gateway vendors such as Cradlepoint, Cisco, Netcomm and Teltonika, to make a more comprehensive estimate of the global IoT module and gateway market.
