Suppliers involved in the negotiations are reported to have established bases in Thailand for other customers, fuelling discussions about the possible assembly and production of MacBook components and modules in the country.

"ideally, Apple would ask us to set up a factory for MacBook in Vietnam to follow in the footsteps of other Apple suppliers, but we have come up with an alternative, that is, to produce the product in our Thai factory, where there is still a lot of room for customers," said a senior supplier executive. "since MacBook assembly will start in Vietnam first, we can also supply parts from our Thai factory. It only takes two to three days for logistics and customs clearance. "

Another supplier said it was building a new plant for Apple in Thailand, which will be completed this year to produce MacBook and other products. According to sources in the media, Apple has been mass-producing Apple Watch in Thailand for more than a year.

In the past few years, Apple has expanded its supply chain outside China, and some products are now produced in factories in India and Vietnam. CTOnews.com noted that Guo Mingyi, an Apple industry analyst, has also said that Thailand may be the main production place for Apple's future MacBook outside China, because this diversification will help Apple ease geopolitical tensions and avoid risks such as US tariffs on Chinese imports.
