Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens, soft media new friends 1933769, OC_Formula, Brother Black fly's left-hand clue delivery! CTOnews.com, April 13 (Xinhua)-- Germany's Mannheim District Court recently ruled in favor of Nokia in a patent case against vivo, which involves Nokia 4G standard essential patents (SEP), which may prevent vivo products from being sold in Germany.
On April 11, local time, vivo issued an announcement on its German website. CTOnews.com attached the full translation of the notice:
Vivo fully respects intellectual property rights and is committed to continuous innovation through extensive research and development. In recent years, vivo has signed cross-license agreements with many leading companies. We have negotiated with Nokia to renew the mutual license, but so far no agreement has been reached. We firmly believe that Nokia has not fulfilled its obligation to provide licenses under FRAND (fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory) terms.
We are disappointed with the decision of the Mannheim District Court in Germany and are ready to suspend the sale and promotion of the products involved through the official German channels of vivo if necessary. We are preparing to appeal against that decision and will review other options. In the meantime, we will continue to negotiate with Nokia to resolve the matter in accordance with the "FRAND" terms.
Our long-term commitment to the German market remains unchanged. Vivo will continue to do business in Germany in the future, and our customers can continue to rely on our services. It has no effect on our business outside Germany.
It is worth mentioning that in July last year, Germany's Mannheim District Court ruled that OPPO infringed Nokia patents, granted Nokia a stop order on OPPO, and banned the sale of OPPO and one plus devices in Germany.
In response, the person in charge of OPPO responded that the sale of some products in Germany would be suspended, adding: "the company firmly opposes unreasonably high fees for patents and the malicious act of coercing licensees to negotiate and accept unreasonably high license fees by litigation." He also mentioned that OPPO respects intellectual property rights and advocates reasonable fees, advocates the settlement of intellectual property disputes between licensors and licensees through friendly negotiations, and respects the value of patents.
