On the evening of April 10, 2023, BYD's cloud technology was finally officially released. This is actually a series of intelligent body control systems, which is a kind of intelligent chassis technology, which is self-developed by BYD to achieve system-level deep integration. The core of the system lies in the intelligent control of the chassis suspension system, which can be regarded as a complement of BYD's chassis technology. The Yunfu series consists of four systems, which are self-developed by BYD. The order of capabilities from low to high is: Yunfu-C, Yunfu-A, Yunxing-P, Yunxing-X. Among them, Yun-C, Yun-An and Yun-P will be carried in production cars such as Ocean / Dynasty flagship models, momentum brands, looking up brands, professional personalized brands, and so on. The Yunyi-X is a set of conceptual products, which is currently carried in the U9 project vehicle.

As can be seen from the above picture, both Yunfu-C and Yunfu-A / Yunfeng-P have two common advantages: sensing technology and damping control technology. This is because cloud cloud systems all adopt the same architecture: perception-"decision-making -" execution.

Among them, the perception layer is responsible for obtaining the road surface, car body status and other information, the decision-making layer is responsible for processing the information and outputting detailed control parameters to the executive layer, and the executive layer is different in hardware configuration according to the positioning of the vehicle model. The functions that can be realized are also different. Careful friends may have found that the perception-- "decision-making--" execution of the cloud cloud system is very similar to that of the intelligent driving system. In fact, the perception layer of the cloud cloud system is directly called ADAS sensor data, such as ADAS cameras, millimeter wave radar, IMU inertial sensors and even lidar. Because the information obtained is rich and accurate, and there is a special controller to make decisions, the perception ability of the cloud cloud system is very strong. According to official data, the cloud cloud system has a maximum detection distance of 150m during preview, a recognition accuracy of 3mm, and a recognition accuracy of more than 99 per cent within 15 meters.

Yunzheng-C

According to the official definition, Yunyi-C is a set of intelligent damping body control system, which can realize the stepless adaptive adjustment of damping by controlling the solenoid valve of the shock absorber.

From the functional description, it is not difficult to see that this is actually a CDC suspension technology (Continuous Damping Control, automatic adjustment and uninterrupted damping control system), and now many middle and high-end models are equipped. To put it simply, CDC uses a kind of shock absorber that uses solenoid valve to control damping. It can realize stepless adjustment of shock absorber damping by adjusting solenoid valve, that is, to adjust the "soft and hard" of shock absorber. At the same time, CDC will also use sensors (usually cameras) to scan the road conditions. when there is a "trench ridge" in front of it, it will adjust the damping of the shock absorber in time according to the preset parameters to achieve dynamic adaptive adjustment.

The difference of Yunxing-C is that the traditional CDC scanning frequency of the road surface is generally 100 times per second, and the response time is more than 10ms, while the scanning frequency of Yunxing-C can reach thousands of times per second, and the damping adjustment speed can reach millisecond, which is almost equivalent to the more advanced magnetorheological fluid shock absorber suspension (electromagnetic suspension).

This is due to the previously mentioned unified architecture of Yunfu, which has strong perception, high computing power and fast response, which enables Yunfu-C to achieve a maximum isolation rate of 96% on the basis of ordinary CDC solenoid valve shock absorbers, with stronger filtering effect and higher vehicle ride comfort. At the same time, under the double-moving line condition of 100km / h per hour, the maximum angular velocity of roll can be reduced by 39.7%, which further improves the maneuverability of the vehicle.

According to the plan, Yunyi-C will first be built on Han EV, the flagship model of BYD Dynasty, but in fact, similar technology has been carried on previously delivered models such as BYD Han EV all-wheel drive and Teng Teng D9, which is called "DiSus-C", and it is not difficult to see the connection with Yunxing-C from the name.

BYD officials also said that more than 40,000 "partial models" delivered so far can be upgraded from OTA to Yunxing-C, indicating that Yunxing-C may be an upgraded version of DiSus-C.

Yunzheng-A

Yunyi-An is defined as "intelligent air body control system". Due to the unified architecture of Yunfu system, it can be regarded as the "upgraded version of air suspension" of Yunyi-C, which will be installed first on Tengli N7.

The biggest difference between Yunyi-An and Yunyi-C is that the executive layer has changed from "solenoid shock absorber + spring" to "solenoid shock absorber + multi-cavity air spring", which is what we often call CDC air suspension. To put it simply, the air spring can realize the change of length and internal air pressure by inflating and deflating, which makes it possible to adjust the suspension height and stiffness of the vehicle. Coupled with the solenoid valve shock absorber with variable damping, the vehicle can not only achieve continuous adjustment of damping, but also adjust the travel of the suspension or the height of the car body, and so on, which has a more obvious optimization effect on handling and riding.

Based on the perception and control ability of Yunqi, the vehicle equipped with Yunqi-A system can realize the height adjustment of 150mm, and automatically trigger multi-stage stiffness adjustment during rapid acceleration and braking, the anti-pitching ability of the vehicle is improved by more than 25%, and the ride comfort and handling are greatly improved. At the same time, because the air suspension system already includes air pumps and gas tanks, Yunyi-An also realizes the active adjustment of the seat flanks through the shared air path design-when the Yunqi perceptive layer discovers a change in the posture of the car body or turns on the turn signal, it will quickly expand the seat flanks of the corresponding parts to achieve the self-adaptation of waist support, so that the occupants'"wrapping feeling" can also be very intelligent.

Yunzheng-P

Yunyi-P is a set of "intelligent hydraulic body control system", it can be seen that "hydraulic" is its key, will take the lead in looking up to U8.

As can be seen from the official structure diagram, the key to Yunfu-P lies not in the spring, but in the shock absorber. It adopts a kind of active hydraulic shock absorber, which is equipped with an independent hydraulic pump compared with the solenoid valve shock absorber, which can actively fill the shock absorber with hydraulic oil, which can not only realize the change of damping, but also directly change the length of the shock absorber, which can achieve the effect similar to that of the air spring.

In addition, if you have ever driven a car with an air suspension, you should have some experience with the response speed of the air suspension, which often takes a long time to inflate and deflate. Compared with the air spring, because the active hydraulic shock absorber is filled with hydraulic oil, as a liquid, its compressibility is very small, so it only needs a small amount to achieve the expansion of the shock absorber, not only the response speed is much faster, its own strength is also much higher, and there is no need for air springs.

At the same time, because the four wheels of Yunqi-P are equipped with high-strength independent hydraulic shock absorbers, so that the vehicle can achieve a lifting capacity of more than 5 tons, and the control system based on Yunqi can realize the independent lifting of a single wheel. in order to achieve "one button leveling" and other functions. It can be seen that for Yunyi-P, this "shock absorber" is not just a shock absorber, perhaps it is more appropriate to call it an active suspension. At present, this structure of suspension is mostly used in luxury vehicles, such as Mercedes-Benz GLE E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL (E-ABC) active suspension also uses a similar active hydraulic shock absorber, but also through the forward-looking binocular stereo camera to scan and predict road conditions.

But the biggest highlight of Yunyi-P is that it is a set of intelligent chassis system developed by BYD, whether it is software or hardware.

Yunzheng-X

Finally, I would like to talk about Yunfu-X, as a set of conceptual products, its appearance is the most surprising part of this press conference.

From the on-site demonstration, its suspension system can even make the U9 vehicle jump (the kind with four wheels off the ground), and its suspension response speed and transient lifting capacity can be seen. Although there are some technical elements, it can also be seen that Yunxing intelligent body control system still has great potential. Based on the overall framework of cloud perception-"decision-making -" implementation, it is not known what surprises U9 production cars will bring to us in the future. We'll see.
