In response to this news, a person familiar with the industry chain revealed to the Financial Associated Press that the news was true, and said that "it should just not be used in this generation of models, and there is a great possibility of delay."

Guo Mingyi said that his latest survey pointed out that two high-end iPhone 15 Pro series (Pro & Pro Max) will cancel the solid-state button design, which is of great concern in the market, and return to the original physical button design because of the technical problems that cannot be overcome before delivery.

Guo Mingyi also said that investors expect the new solid-state button design to help suppliers increase revenue and profits, so the change is particularly bad for suppliers Cirrus Logic (exclusive Controller IC supplier) and AAC Technology (Taptic Engine supplier). Lixun Precision is also a Taptic Engine supplier of solid-state keys, but because its operating scale is significantly larger than that of AAC, the impact of this change on revenue and profits can be ignored.

Affected by the news, AAC's share price fell nearly 15% and has not recovered so far.

Guo Mingyi also said that at present, iPhone 15 Pro is in the development stage of EVT (CTOnews.com Note), so there is still time to change the design. In addition, canceling solid-state keys and restoring physical keys will simplify the development and testing process. On the basis of the above, it is preliminarily judged that the impact of the cancellation of solid-state buttons on the mass production time and shipments of the Pro model should be limited.

Guo Mingyi said as early as last October that the iPhone 15 Pro model would be equipped with solid-state buttons. At the time, he said that two additional Taptic Engine inside the iPhone would provide tactile feedback to simulate the feeling of pressing a physical key without the physical movement of the key.
